3 Secret Ways To Get The Most Out Of Thanksgiving
The most powerful part of the day called Thanksgiving, is also the simplest.
The day of gratefulness is upon us!
The day where all of our family convene in one small home to eat, talk, and annoy the crap out of each other.
There's no better feeling. (Unless you add unwrapping gifts to the equation.)
Most people around the world look forward to Thanksgiving because it's just an overall day of positivity.
And that's a beautiful thing.
I believe the more positivity and gratefulness we practice, the better humanity becomes.
But there's so much more to Thanksgiving than lots of food and basketball games.
Honestly, on the day of giving thanks, we should all be grateful for that alone.
But the most successful and accomplished people in life never settle for the bare minimum.
The world's most elite will always look for more value and more to learn.
And Thanksgiving is no different.
There are a handful of ways to get even more value from Thanksgiving.
And if you apply these strategies not only will you have a full stomach, and good convos with the fam, you'll wake up on Friday being a slightly better version of yourself. (Instead of a slightly heavier version of yourself. Actually, I can't guarantee that.)
Here are three tips you can use to make the most of Thanksgiving.
Let go of the things holding you down.
The most powerful part of the day called Thanksgiving, is also the simplest.
Giving.
If you are like most people, you spend 99% of the year buying, taking, and hoarding.
Any and everything you want or tell yourself you need, you get.
By this time of year, you have 300 pairs of leggings, two and half toasters, and lots of books you'll never read.
If you have the luxury of having lots of things, then that is a blessing.
On a day like Thanksgiving, those things will add little to no value to your life.
It's funny how we spend thousands of dollars buying things looking for happiness...
Then for free, we spend the day with friends and family and get more joy than the whole year combined.
On Thanksgiving, rather than just giving your time, give away your things.
Give away things to people less fortunate.
Give away coats, blankets, shoes, toys, and clothes that you haven't put on since highschool.
Not only will you be helping those in need, you will also be freeing yourself from the things holding you down.
Feed future you.
Food.
You can't spell Thanksgiving without food..(Okay that didn't make sense. But you get the point.)
Food is such an essential part to so many families' traditions on Thanksgiving.
It's like there's no way to keep every family member happy and in a good mood unless you fill their stomachs to the brim.
But the food you get presented on Thanksgiving is soooooo much more than a nice restaurant meal.
The amount of food prepared for the family is insane!
We're talking a 5 star all you can eat buffet that's definitely going out of business food.
That's very rewarding in the moment. But the sad truth is that nine times out of ten, that food is never fully finished.
When everyone leaves grandma's she doesn't turn into some food eating beast that hauls down all the leftovers before Monday.
Instead, it slowly goes bad in her refrigerator.
And when you head back to your college dorm, or home to your busy life, the very next day you're looking in your empty fridge for food.
Do yourself a favor and make some extra plates to take home for the weekend.
It's not selfish, it's efficient.
Connect with your contacts.
The second best part after food on Thanksgiving is the energy and spirit in the air.
Everyone is in a good mood and showing gratitude for all that they have.
Most of us send little texts in the morning to our friends and family telling them how awesome they are.
Well, if you want to take that to the next level what you have to do is simple.
Take that same energy and intention and apply it to your network.
Send your boss a message, your coworkers, your business contacts, and more.
Look for the people you connected with that really made an impact on you, and let them know it.
Message your connections that you haven't spoken to all year.
Honestly, you can even message people that you wish were in your network.
Nobody, looks at a "Happy Thanksgiving" message and gets pissed.
Your network is your net worth. So give it some love and attention too.
You'd be surprised how far a simple holiday message goes in the business world.
These are three ways you can make a great holiday into a phenomenal one.
Even if you never apply any of them, I want you to know I'm grateful for you reading.
Happy Thanksgi...

Tim
